Deep Cold and Dark

they say no one can hear you scream at 200 feet, same is true at 178 as well :), and it was cold and dark as well. So cold I was having problems using the camera as i was in wetgloves. I wont make that mistake again. Again anyone that thinks that helium is just a marking ploy would have missed the beauty in this like schooner. Not a large one but from all the reports stripped bare and such. So a little helium reveled pottery, full wheel and 2 masts still standing with a little crows nest still.

Chris had to stay on the boat and for his reward a second dive on the Manola where he earned his penetration badge of honour. He still owes me 200 bux and a tip for the DM.

HMS Montreal II

Bow of HMS Montreal II

Yet another wreck in Kingston’s outer harbour which maybe the famed HMS Montreal, Like the previous HMS Montreal there was no cannon balls, cannons or scattered important artifacts. But a hit on the way home gave us another wreck near the KYC.

matt on the KYC Wreck

My Guest poser was Matt from the Dolphins Dive Club who was just lounging about at the gym and got to dive two wrecks not available to the general public. Sometimes it pays to ask about extra diving.

James F from the store along with Kevin L from the Dolphins also went out to the Richardson(KGH) wreck today and at my request installed 5 pegs and removed the line off the wreck. So more diving for the masses in Kingston again.

Enjoy and Safe Dives.

Barry and Maggie go home

Barry and maggie are leaving in the AM to return home, apparently for Barry it’s only for the winter and back to KIngston to resume teaching and doubling his dive total. Dan and I stopped by to say see ya and I used the opportunity to take a few shots of Barry’s little friend Emma.

Emma and Sunflower2

Afterwards Dan and I had a German Dinner complete with a large grog and I did a drive by to which there was nothing to report except i got to hear the new AC/DC song. It seems that AC/DC has released the same song again and like normal have only changed the lyrics. :p .

What a nice day till the wind picked up

So 20 kms came just as hard again so I treated myself to a sauna and check up on my truck which should be ready Monday. Then Off to the store to go diving on the Montreal a war of 1812 sloop apparently a big discovery for the second year in a roll. I would normally keep the numbers quiet until a survey or a consensus was done but a local charter company ran a charter to the site already so the numbers are n44 13 433 W76 27826. Unfortunately at the time of this post all the cannon balls have gone missing.

Stern HMS Montreal 2

So on the return trip back to the store the wind picked up and 2 - 3 footers turned a 45 min ride into a 80 min ride. But that is life on the Lake.

Today School started

and all the pretty girls were out :) , So the day started with 20km in the gym and for some odd reason it was a long 20 kms seemed shorter in the spring. Then I saw an old buddy doing his good deed for the week and I swallowed my anger and went to see him. We shot the shit for well over an hour and a half and it was like it was only yesterday we were hanging and banging. He asked that I use some smilies in my posts and try to lighten up. Most likely some good advice.

So off the store and ganged up with Dan, Chris and Vinnie for a dive on the new wreck (KGH) at the moment, and Barry decided to come then leave then come then left. 10 mins swim and got quite a few shots including this one.

Dan on the Bow

Back to the store to set up tomorrows dive and quest. I finished the day off at Henry’s and bought my self a toy.

So I am going to try to lighten up my posts, It’s just that I am still doing the army thing, Short concise and to the point which apparently is only an Army thing. :)

My apologies.

Party on the Wolfe

Leanne came today to finish her OW checkouts so on the first dive Harold and I took her to the Aloha and Effie mae to do dive three. Everything went off like clockwork and Leanne nailed it better then most AOW students. Annie had bailed on the dive to take the Kids back to school and missed the chance to see what her influence as well on this batch of students had.

Leanne on the safety stop 3 mins at 15 no rope holding :)
Safety Stop
Then off to the store as we had to take gear to the Wolfe and was informed that it would be a double so we loaded an extra tank for leanne and off to the Wolfe we went. Everyone except the Portsmouth gang was on the Wolfe and it was crowed like no tomorrow. Again leanne nailed it like a pro and passed her OW course and then was treated to a great tour on her first dive after certification with Harold.

Someone left another motorcycle on the Wolfe, some japscrap so it was appropriately parked anyway. Cooperation in the community in the last couple of weeks is at an all time high so life is good at the moment and I hope it continues to improve.

Harold and Bike

The only regret today was I didn’t get spend some time with Sean before he had to head out to Homewood for a break. I imagine that Dan looked after him today.

Lets Follow the Leader

Every Charter Operation from Picton to Treasure Island except one was hanging and diving on the Frontenac and Douglas today so a couple of dives out by the main ducks was in order. A bright and sunny day and calm seas was the norm and back in by three to go to the family BBQ and Birthday parties to boot.
Follow the Leader

After which back to the store to help Matt close up and a few beers with the gang make for a great evening, Some Riding, Diving, Beer and BBQ live was good today.

Long Day finally ends

So again with the email someone thinks that telling it like it is and asking for truth and honour is poisoning. Typical of those not in the loop but I got to go diving today and todays target was the new wreck discovery off shore of the KGH. GLUE members went to the site and with the little information given did the work for all to find her.

You need to start in the west parking lot by the tower and swim out to 20 feet where you will pickup a white line running parallel to shore. Head west to the yellow line laid by POW and the Dolphins and 15 mins later you will be on the wreck. The wreck is simular to the Kinghorn’s construction but no decks. The Sides are still standing, we are going to return the wreck to video and photograph it.

unloading in Bath

The afternoon saw Dan and I taking a quick ride out to Glendora where this laker and the Roman as well was in the Gap. Then back to the shop to this.
tanks at 5

Being the only legal fill station open past 5 sometimes leads to long night so BBQ for GLUE and NEUE for about 20 people and another ride to Camden East.

Running out of Cheeks

Off to go diving and two interesting emails this am one expressing disconcern with my style basically amounting to two wrongs now make it right, basically I should be nice and gentle whist the locals bend me over and have me in a fashion they choose. While all the time they can do and say what they please, I personally don’t get it.

The other was from a diver whom paid for a charter to the HMS Montreal and was dropped apparently beside the wreck no shot line and no wreck was to be found, the only thing that was felt was the pain of his pocket being emptied by the operator. He then went on to state that he and others did the shore route posted on scubaboard and only saw a pile of firewood in his driveway sort of speak and was wondering if that was the “secret” historic wreck. I could honestly say I have no idea but you got 2 dives in the area so life can’t be bad.

Anyway off to go diving hopefully

Some Mornings are just better then others

advanced students on the safety stopSo I awoke this am around 3 then 3:30 then 4 this carried on till I got up and turned on my laptop at 6 and to my surprise POW and some members of the Dolphin dive club lined a wreck in 60 feet of water near the KGH so it’s called the KGH wreck. Apparently a 100 feet long and 24 feet wide it’s assumed to be a canaller. This is one positive thing the local community outside of NTD have done so good for them.

Off to Rockport afterwards and 25 mins at 175 on 18/45 with Oren and 43 mins of deco led to a long dive today, while on the deco run I found a tire and sent it down the wall rolling all the way, there was a small fish with a yellowish tail entertaining me and Oren during deco first time I saw one like it.

it looked like a large aquarium fish with a yellowish tail, hopefully I can find some information on it.
